Fused-glass artist Sue Messmer bonds together layers of glass pieces, often adding dichroic glass, which is made with a metal-oxide coating that creates a spectrum of sparkling colors. The finished piece is then fired in a kiln at nearly 1,500 degrees and slowly cooled, bonding the glass into a unique piece of special artwork.
